1929 Old Town Hall Building Dedication Sepia Photograph
Description
An account of the resource
A 1929 sepia photograph of the Old Town Hall Building dedication day. The building was built on the site of the destroyed Farmington Opera House. The view is of the front and both sides of the building facing the Old Town Hall. The two story building, with an internal mezzanine or balcony is brick with white wooden trim. It has many double high windows on the front and both sides. The facade is done in Greek Revival style with a four column, double story portico with a small, angled roof. A set of double doors greet anyone ascending the three steps. Each front double door has a half semi-circle window above it. Mature trees are seen lining Main Street and surrounding buildings can be seen in the background. At least three vehicles can be seen in the photo on the street to the right of the building. A very large crowd of townsfolk are assembled in front of the building extending well into Main Street.
Condition: Fair. The photo has two edge tears; one in the lower right and one on the right half way up the photo. A corner is missing and small piece is missing from the border on the left. There are several stains. There is also some kind of paper adhered to the back of the photo, sporadically, probably from being adhered and then torn from a page.
Size: 6.5" x 8.25"

Roberts and Tanner Homestead Main Street Framed Photos
Description
An account of the resource
A set of three, wood framed, matted, black and white photos. The photos are what is commonly known as the Roberts and Tanner Homestead on Main Street in Farmingtin, NH, close to the juncture of Main Street and what is now NH Route 11. They show at least two periods of time and provide a front and side view of the house as well as a rear view of the home.<br /><br />Included with the photos is this account of possible history by Linda Peckham:<br /><br /><p><em>This group of pictures are of the Tanner home at 39 Main Street. This property was purchased by</em><br /><em>William H Tanner in 1851 from Jonathan Roberts according to the registry of deeds .Both of these</em><br /><em>names are on the 1871 town map of Farmington. I'm not sure if the property had buildings on it when</em><br /><em>it was purchased.</em></p>
<p><em>The people in the photo might be William H Tanner (1825-1906) and his wife Martha (Giles) Tanner</em><br /><em>(1844-1918) or it is possible that is John Tanner(l788-I868) William"s father His mother Mary Jane</em><br /><em>(Thompson) Tanner (1789-1859) had probably passed away.</em></p>
<p><em>William & Martha had 4 children: Charles 1865-1890. Once 1866-1950. Lizzy 1870-1936. and George</em><br /><em>Irving 1878-1959.</em></p>
<p><em>George Irving and his wife moved in with his mother Martha after Williams passing, after her passing</em><br /><em>he brought out his sisters to own the property. He and his wife Gertrude (Smart) Tanner lived there until</em><br /><em>their deaths. They had three children Leona (1911-1911), Evelyn (Tanner) Furber (1912-1997) and</em><br /><em>Floyd I. (1914-2011).</em></p>
<p><em>Floyd bought the property from his parents before their deaths. He and his wife Edna (Marcoux) Tanner</em><br /><em>lived on the property until their passing 2011 and 2016 respectively.</em></p>
<p><em>His wife was my Aunt and her sister Jeanette Flanagan as the administrator of her will thought that you might be interested in the picture.</em></p>
<br />Condition:Fair. Some water damage on matte, but did not cause buckling or apparent damge to photographs. Backing enclosure is in poor condition and should be reenforced. <br /><br />Size: Each photograph is approxiamtely 7"x12". matted. The entire matted set is 43" x 11."<br /><br /><br />FHS-Kyle Leach

Topley House Line Drawing On Card
Description
An account of the resource
Topley House on the corner of Main Street and Lincoln Street. A line drawing printed on card paper. The line drawing was created by Irene Furbush, who lived in the home for almost twenty years. The home has two full stories and then a third story living space in the finished attic. The building has a small covered front entrance and a lower bay window in the front right, with three windows above. There is a single window, in the attic floor and it is unknown if this was used for storage or sleeping space. The side of the house offers many windows and a side entrance via a covered open porch. A very large carriage house sits at the back of the house, attached to it, allowing one to be in the carriage house and then directly to the home without going outside. Detail work, beams, fretwork, and shutters all appear to be in very good condition and well maintained. The house has one chimney. The house looks very much like the rending to this day.

An account of the resource
A short, multi-page Farmington NH National Bank booklet for information and marketing purposes. The booklet starts with a drawing of the bank. Next the booklet has a list of officers, directors, and cashiers. The following page offers an early history.<br /><br /><br />The early history reads:<br /><br /><em>EARLY HISTORY THE FARMINGTON NATIONAL BANK is the out growth of a State Bank which was organized some time previous to January 1, 1855, such records as are available not giving us the exact date. Over three-quarters of a century have elapsed since that time and volumes might be written on the changes which have taken place in the Town and also in methods of banking. We find that back in April and May of the year 1872, Citizens' Meetings were held to give consideration to the organizing of a National Bank. As a result of these meet- ings, G. W. Herring and Charles W. Thurston proceeded to Washington for the purpose of obtaining permission to organize, and this authority was given under date of May 15, 1872. Description
An account of the resource
A black and White photograph of the front and side of downtown mill building where the the building has been gutted by fire. The fire happened in 1944 and is well documented. The roof, windows appear to be gone and the some of the floors compromised or caved in. The front doors are still standing and open. The building was known as the Old Nute Factory and the Dole-Waldron Factory. The building sits on the corner North Main & East Grove Street, which is now Civic Street, facing North Main. As of 2021 it is the site of the Cumberland Farms Store. Only the first two levels of brick work from the original building still exist as part of the building.
