Birds Eye View Central & Main Souvenir Postcard
Description
An account of the resource
Black and white, Farmington, NH postcard showing a birds eye view of Central Street and Main Street in downtown Farmington, facing north, up the Main Street hill, during the day. The Richards Block and Odd Fellows Block buildings can be seen in the photo in the middle-ground. The White Store can be seen. Some of what is left of the Barker Block, in the foreground, can be seen, after the fire took out all of that block, reducing it to rubble. The rubble has been cleared. Trees can be seen throughout the downtown, sans their leaves. A horse is hitched at the Farmington News building. A dozen people seem to be milling about the downtown. The shops appear to be open, as they have their awnings extended. The photo is post electrification. Divided back postcard.

Farmington Opera House Sepia Souvenir Postcard
Description
An account of the resource
A Farmington NH Opera House sepia souvenir postcard. The view is of the front and left side of the building from Main Street. The three story building with an internal mezzanine or balcony was brick with wooden trim. It featured many double high windows on the front and both sides. It had a simple single story portico with a small roof balustrade. Four chimneys can be sen in the photo. The photo is set sometime in winter as snow is on the ground. Trees and surrounding building can be seen in the background. A February 10, 1928 fire effectively burned the Farmington Opera House to the ground. The library and town offices, along with most books, artifacts, and town records, from earlier periods perished in the fire.
