Doctored Souvenir Postcard Farmington Future
Title
Doctored Souvenir Postcard Farmington Future
Description
A doctored souvenir postcard of Farmington's "future." The postcard features a look at turn of the century Main Street in Farmington looking south, close to the intersection with Central Street. In the background are many notable Main Street buildings. In the foreground and in the sky many items have been superimposed into the original photo to give Farmington a "future" look. Several flying machines are in the air, an elevated rail line, a local trolley, a "New York" subway staircase, and a public bus transport round out the vision of the future. The society does not know if this was made for sale or if it was a prank or joke of some kind. The publisher and the words "Farmington NH in the future" are printed at the bottom of the postcard.
